Colonial Garden Carriage Horses Carriage Ride
When we got to the Visitors Center of Williamsburg, we purchased ticket for a Carriage ride; then we started the day off by riding the shuttle into Merchants Square in Colonial Williamsburg rather than walking all the way in, we're a bit tired from yesterday's walking. When we got off the bus we had a bit of time still before going for the Carriage ride, so we stopped by the Tailors and Weavers shop. At the Weavers we learned how they made their different yarns and about the different spinning wheels and the weaving loom. Outside they had a large frame, probably 8 feet square for making hook rugs. Next stop was the Colonial Garden where some kids were getting the opportunity to carry water and then water the plants. Here I got a wooden fan and some lip balm and lavender potpourri. Then it was on to the Carriage Ride, our driver was Edward and the horses were Admiral and Commodore. Sharing our carriage was another couple from California, actually Concord. It was a very smooth and comfortable ride, just wish it had been longer.
One of the Soldiers posed with Kevin for a picture, he is pretending to spear Kevin with his bayonet. We then went to an auction where I got several pieces of Creamware that is handmade in England. We then went back to the resort until time for dinner, we ate at Chowings Tavern where we shared a Sampler Platter of BBQ Ribs, Brunswick Stew, and Spiced Cheese and Sippets. I had Ol' Stitch Ale and Kevin had a German Ale. Then we went on the Ghosts Among Us tour of the city.
