We decided to drive to Norfolk to see the Atlantic and possibly go on a harbor cruise. You would not believe how hard it was to either see the ocean from any streets or find an area with walking access. We finally found a pier. But it costs $8 per person to just go out on the pier to look around. We decided to try to find another way, but to no avail. We finally decided that since it looked like rain and Kevin had a headache to go back to Williamsburg.
Once there we went to Quilts Unlimited where Kevin bought me a Colonial Period dress and cloak and they gave me a mop hat. Then the saleslady who was from England, and I talked Kevin into getting an outfit too. Once we were both dressed, we went walking from there (Market Square area) down towards the Taverns. We made a reservation at Shields Tavern on the way. We also stopped at the store that held the auction where we got our creamware for a hat for Kevin. It was lots of fun ladies would smile at us as we passed and most guys would look the other way. The interpretors that were dressed in Colonial wear would nod or say good day to us. Some people even thought we worked there and would ask directions from us.
This was our second time at Shields Tavern. For appetizers, Kevin had the Welsh Rarebit, while I had a Field Greens Salad. Then we had Ale Potted Beef for our main course. He had apple cider while I had draft root beer. I loved their root beer. Kevin thought it a bit heavy on the ginger side.
